What sounds should your child be saying:

I am often asked what age children should produce certain SOUNDS. We have great research to answer this question, which I included below. There are ALWAYS EXCEPTIONS though (e.g., therapists are now intervening earlier for kiddos with a lateral lisp), so reach out if you are not sure or if you have any concerns.

2 year olds: /p, b, d, m, n, h, w/

3 year olds: /t, k, ɡ, f/ “ng”, “y”

4 year olds: /v, s, z, l/ “sh”, “ch”, “j”

5 years olds: Voiced “th” (that), “zh”, r

6 year olds: Voiceless “th” (think)
